LEED Project CertificationThe US Green Building Councils' Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) is a widely accepted consensus based green building rating system. Projects can achieve levels of Certified, Silver, Gold or Platinum. This process involves meeting certain prerequisites and attaining credits in up to eight categories, depending on the type of project, to effectively determine the projects' level of green. Upon completion, the project is certified and listed on the USGBC web site for national recognition. Due to increased awareness and public demand for healthier environments, the demand for buildings with LEED certification has increased their value and lease appeal. LEED for New Construction & Major Renovations is for commercial and non low-rise residential projects, whether they are new construction or a major renovation. LEED for Homes is designed specifically for single and multi family non high-rise residential buildings. |
Having a LEED AP on a project ensures one Innovation & Design credit and maximum credits potential.
The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) program NAHBs' Model Green Home is tailored to spec and custom homes and is collaborating with the International Code Council (ICC) to include green building in local building codes. The USGBC offers other certification paths for LEED for Commercial Interiors, LEED for Core & Shell, LEED for Existing Buildings, LEED for Retail and LEED for Schools and more. The program is constantly evolving. Call today for a complimentary consultation, and see how easy & beneficial green building can be. |
